Romain Grosjean has backed the motive outlined by Managing Director of Formula 1 Ross Brawn, who believes so-called "pay drivers" should not appear on the grid, with the 20 spaces being filled out by the 20 best drivers.
This objective was one of many laid out when Liberty Media completed their acquisition of F1 in January, and Brawn hopes to stop the "pay drivers" by distributing the prize money more evenly throughout the paddock.
Brawn said: "The reality is that at the bottom of the grid, business considerations related to the budgets of the drivers have become too great."
Haas driver Romain Grosjean says that he agrees with Brawn, stating that although drivers using their money to get into a seat has always been around, it is now worse than ever.
"I totally agree with him," he said. "It's true that it has always existed in F1, but maybe it is now worse than before. It would be positive for young drivers because we know how extremely difficult it is to arrive in F1, and if there are places taken by people who don't deserve it, there are even less places for young drivers," he said.
