Racing Director of Manor Dave Ryan says that the team needs to make big strides in 2017 if they are to move up the grid.
Manor finished bottom of the points table this season, despite looking as though they would hold off Sauber with Pascal Wehrlein's point in Austria.
However Felipe Nasr finished ninth at his home Grand Prix in Brazil to claim a massive two points and bring them ahead of Manor, where they stayed.
Ryan offered his congratulations and pride to the team but knows they have a lot of work to do.
"A huge congratulations to the entire team [at the circuit] and back at Banbury for the effort that has gone into this season," said Ryan.
"It hasn't been easy but when you look at just how far we've come in the space of 12 months, our improvement is incredible and something to be really proud of.
"Having said that, we know we still have big strides to make, but it's a challenge we are all looking forward to as we strive to move Manor up the grid in 2017."
