Former Formula One driver Mika Salo has paid tribute to compatriot Dr. Aki Hintsa.

Dr. Hintsa, a former McLaren doctor, passed away earlier this week after a battle with cancer.

The Finn also worked with a number of drivers outside of McLaren, one of which was Salo, with an aim of unlocking the full potential from human performance.

"Aki revolutionised F1 in this way," former Ferrari driver and F1 pundit and steward Salo told the Finnish broadcaster MTV.

"He brought a whole new perspective to many coaches who are still here. Aki changed the mentality for many of the drivers," he added.

Aki introduced an holistic approach for drivers to excel. Body and Mind.

"He brought a whole new perspective to many drivers who are still here. Aki changed the mentality of many drivers".

    For those curious.
