Nico Rosberg has said there was "nothing specific" that caused him to miss out on pole position to Lewis Hamilton at Circuit of the Americas.
Rosberg has started the previous two races at COTA, only to miss out to Hamilton on race day. Today, Hamilton took top spot on Saturday for the first time in Austin, and Rosberg said there was nothing fundamentally wrong with his lap, his three-time world champion team mate was simply quicker.
"Sector 1, Lewis was just quicker. Pretty simple," he said. "Good lap I did nonetheless. Annoyed when Lewis came over the line, but that’s the way it goes sometimes."
"Nevertheless, qualifying isn’t all-important," Rosberg insisted. "From P2, we still have a good chance tomorrow."
