Former Ferrari team principal Sefano Domenicali has said that Lamborghini are not looking to enter Formula One.
The Italian, who is also head of the FIA's single seater commission, joined Audi after leaving Ferrari in 2014. He was rumoured to be spearheading a move into F1 for Audi but was subsequently appointed CEO of Lamborghini, replacing Stephan Winkelmann.
When asked by Italian magazine Autosprint whether the brand would be looking to enter Formula One, Domenicali refuted the idea.
"I have to say this is not the priority today, because we have other priorities above this," Domenicali said. "We also have a system that is working really well in racing, and credit for that goes to all of the people who have chosen the sports programme very well."
"However, you cannot think of a brand like Lamborghini without motor sport," he added.
Lamborghini's previous spell in Formula One was as an engine supplier with Larrousse in 1993, a fifth place for Philippe Alliot being their best result that season. More recently, the brand's motorsport activities have centred around their own one-make series and customer GT3 programmes.
Despite now being at the helm of Ferrari's arch-rivals in the supercar business, Domenicali holds no regrets about his 20 years spent at Ferrari.
"If I look at my experience in F1, for me it was an extraordinary period that I carry inside me that is absolutely unforgettable," he said. "I never fail to thank those who trusted me in the past. But this is part of my life now. Today, we are focused on a new challenge that I have to say is just as inspiring and beautiful, but in a different dimension."
