Lewis Hamilton was elated to win his fifth Canadian Grand Prix, a race he has won more than any other, to move within just nine points of his championship-leading team mate Nico Rosberg.
After dropping back at the start, the Mercedes driver worked his one-stop strategy to perfection to overhaul Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel who, despite leading early on, had to settle for second.

"I won my first Grand Prix here in 2007 so this is just such a blessing," he said, after the race.
It wasn't a straightforward victory for the three-time world champion, who failed to capitalise on pole position, dropping behind a fast-starting Sebastian Vettel.
"Today I had another really bad start, I'm not really quite sure why. I think I probably overheated my clutch," said Hamilton in the post-race podium interviews. "Sebastian and Nico got quite a good run down to turn one, the tyres were cold, [I had] big understeer and I feel very grateful that me and Nico didn't damage anything on our cars.After that it was just trying to chase this guy [Vettel] down."
Despite Vettel closing in on Hamilton, the German made a pair of late race mistakes at the final turn, putting Hamilton's victory beyond all doubt.
"He was so quick out there but the car felt fantastic I think it was set up just right with great work from the engineers and mechanics."
