The FIA has approved CP Tech as Formula 1's first supplier of the Halo. The cockpit protection device will be run in F1 this year, along with Formula 2 and F3 Americas.
The Halo is made of titanium and weighs around 6kg, but that is expected to rise to 10kg after fixings, mounts and chassis changes are taken into account. CP Tech is owned by Dutch group Nedschroef, and its managing director Thomas Casey described how the company is proud to deliver the Halos.

Head protection was originally meant to arrive in Formula 1 in 2017, however it was pushed back to 2018 after it was deemed to be too rushed. The FIA demonstrated in a presentation how the Halo was the most readily available device to protect the driver's heads.
