Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene says that success must become a consistent feature of the Scuderia's F1 campaign, and not a one-off event. Ferrari's title hopes in 2017 came to a crashing disappointment, after it hoped to de-throne Mercedes from the top spot.
The Silver Arrows took 12 victories in 2017, its lowest figure during the V6 hybrid era. Ferrari racked up five race wins throughout the year, with only 1 victory coming in the second half of the season. Arrivabene claims he knows how Ferrari must change to get back to championship-winning ways.

"I think one of the strengths of Mercedes, apart from the brand they're representing, is how the team is organised, it's also their habit to win," he said. "Sometimes you are going to have a pole position and it becomes an event. Pole position must become a habit and not an event. This is what I mean for a habit to win.
"It doesn't have to be perceived as an event, the victory, or the pole position. It must be the natural result of the work that you are doing. In this way, I have a lot of respect for them but in this way, we know what we have to do for the future in our side."
"Of course the number of pole positions and so on they are important somehow but the most important is the championship. The good number that we have at the moment is demonstrating the good job of the overall team but the fact that we were not able to win the championship means that it's not enough, so we have to push forward to next year to do it better."

They can start by eliminating the habit of having a weak pathetic #2 driver. I don't understand why Ferrari doesn't like that. Irvine, Barrichello, Massa, Raikkonen (except for 2007), all of these are mediocre drivers that should have won more constructors championships for Ferrari. Yes, they haven't had issues with intra team battles like Red Bull and Mercedes. But they also haven't won s***t in several years.

It really is a habit they need to lay off with, and its also something drivers shouldnt be able to demand from their teams, be it Vettel, Hamilton or whatever.
