Max Verstappen picked up his third Formula 1 victory in Mexico, overtaking pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel at the start of the race. The Dutchman pulled off an impressive move around the outside of the first turn, banging wheels with Vettel in the process.
He went on to dominate at the front, finishing almost nineteen seconds ahead of Valtteri Bottas in second. After grabbing the headlines following his post-race penalty in Austin last weekend, Verstappen says it was the perfect race following the result in the US.
"Of course, the start was very crucial," said Verstappen, reflecting on the race. "I went around the outside, which worked out well, and from there on I was just basically looking after the tyres – the car performed brilliantly in the race. A big thanks to Red Bull, because without them this was not possible. After last week, this is a perfect race."
Verstappen also provided his thoughts on Lewis Hamilton who wrapped up his fourth world title: "In general this year he has been the strongest and also the car was reliable. If you combine those two you can achieve great things and that's of course the world championship."
