The FIA has announced a change to the rules surrounding blue flags for this weekends Grand Prix. Last season saw many comments made over the consistency of the blue flags, with the leaders feeling they were frequently impeded by slower cars.
Once the faster car is three seconds behind the slower one, a pre-warning is issued to the slower car to ensure that it has time to cleanly move out of the way. Under the old regulations, slower cars were shown blue flags when the car behind was one second way.

However, this has now been changed to 1.2 seconds, partly due to the increase in dirty air that the cars now give off. Race director Charlie Whiting stated that "the [slower] driver must allow the following driver to overtake at the first available opportunity."

I'd like to see the blue flags removed altogether. Although I'll admit that it could lead to problems in terms of a Ferrari powered car fighting a Mercedes harder than it would a Ferrari and vice versa. But at the end of the day, that's racing.
