Mika Salo, who is acting as driver steward in Shanghai this weekend, has said that the Chinese Grand Prix was almost rescheduled after running was significantly disrupted on Friday.
Bad weather led to a shortened FP1 and a cancelled FP2, and Sunday's race is also expected to take place under a low cloud. According to Salo, this prompted the officials to consider moving qualifying and the race to Saturday.
"That the race would be moved to Saturday was close. When we looked again and the weather for Sunday looked better, it was decided no changes would be made."
The FIA is said to have ensured that the race will be able to proceed without any problems, even if the medical helicopter is unable to fly - just as it could not on Friday - due to the forecast conditions.
