Carlos Sainz admitted that he would have easily been as entertained during Friday practice if he was sitting at home, watching from his sofa.
The first two practice sessions today saw very limited running, with only 20 minutes of on-track action over the 3 hours, with cars making no appearances in FP2.
Drivers were left to watch the TV screen from inside the garages, all the while wishing to be gathering data for qualifying and Sunday's race: "We spent most of the time in the garage today," Sainz said.
"In this morning's FP1 we managed to at least do an install lap and check the car, making sure everything was working well. In FP2 we unfortunately didn't complete any laps
"I spent an hour and a half in my seat, watching the session on TV," he added. "It was like sitting on the sofa at home – at least I confirm I'm very comfortable when I sit in the cockpit!"
The weather for tomorrow's final practice and qualifying session is set to be an improvement, which will bring a hectic FP3 as teams attempt to gather as much data as possible.
"Tomorrow's FP3 will definitely be a tough and intensive session," Sainz acknowledged. "There's now a lot to learn in a little amount of time, but it's the same for everyone."
