Ecclestone denies breakaway series rumours

Bernie Ecclestone has ruled out the possibility of forming a breakaway series after being ousted from his position as CEO of Formula One. Reports swirled that Ecclestone could form a new series to try and encourage current F1,  GP2 and GP3 teams to join.

However, Ecclestone has released a statement in which he denies any sort of plans, stating the last thing he would want to do is destroy what he has built.

"I have built the championship over the last near 50 years, which is something I am proud of, and the last thing I want is to see it damaged," he said in a statement to Reuters.

  • Don't believe a word coming out from that creature's mouth. Money is all this old fart cares about and where he can get it he will go no matter what the cost. Just ask all the race promoters who have been hung dry.
