Imola objection withdrawn

Imola are no longer challenging Monza over the right to host the Italian Grand Prix, paving the way for Mona to continue hosting the historic race.

The former-San Marino Grand Prix venue reportedly signed a contract to host the Italian Grand Prix, only for Monza to announce a renewal of their deal in September.

Imola took the matter to court and the hearing was set to take place two weeks ago, only for Imola officials to withdraw their objections.

"Imola withdrew its objection against Monza and so the court case scheduled for October 26 did not go ahead," a Monza source told Autosport "This leaves the way open for Monza to continue negotiations with Formula One Management to secure the future of Monza as a Formula One venue."

"We are confident that matters will be concluded before the 2017 calendar is confirmed in early December," the source said.
