A contract for the 2017 Italian Grand Prix is still not in place.

Speculation has surrounded the event for  much of the year but a new deal was announced in September and the Italian Grand Prix appeared on the provisional 2017 calendar and it was not subject to confirmation.

Italian news service Mediaset is now reporting that now new contract has been put in place, contrary to earlier reports.

"There are now legitimate questions being asked, especially as Imola has not given up the idea of taking the Grand Prix away," the report added.

"It is hoped now that the signatures can be put on the agreement as soon as possible."
