Russian GP promoter doubts race is in doubt

Russian Grand Prix promoter Sergey Vorobyov has denied that the race Sochi is another one that is under threat.

The FIA released a provisional calendar for 2017, with the events in Canada, Germany, and Brazil all listed as subject to confirmation.

However, reports in Russia indicate that dwindling local support and financial difficulties could see the Russian race also come under threat.

However, Vorobyov denied the claims.

"Recently, the Formula One calendar was published and the Grand Prix of Russia was confirmed," he told Ria Novosti news agency. "We are sceptical of these reports about the race because it is not in danger."
