Michael Schumacher "reacting" according to di Montezemolo

Former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has offered an update to the condition of Michael Schumacher, claiming that the seven-time Formula One world champion is "reacting" to treatment.

Updates on the German's condition have been scarce since his skiing accident at the end of 2013, with his manager Sabine Kehm rarely offering updates in order to protect Schumacher's privacy.

However di Montezemolo, Schumacher's former boss at Ferrari, has given a tiny insight into the current condition of the 91-time race winner.

"I'm very pleased to know that he is reacting," he told Ecumenical News. "I know how strong he is. I'm sure that thanks to his determination; which will be crucial, he will come out from this very, very difficult situation."

The information does not give too much away, but it gives fans hope. The last update on Schumacher's condition from his management offered very little information and left many wondering if he was making any progress.

"He is the most successful driver in history and sometimes, on days like this, it is good to be reminded of it," Kehm said. "Of course, Michael is not here and of course we miss him. We know what has happened and cannot change it."

"We must accept it and hope with everything we have that with continued support and patience he will one day be back with us."
