Leading Brazilian journalists have dismissed talk of this year's race in Sao Paulo will be the last, insisting that the race has a contract in place for a number of years.
Formula One Group CEO Bernie Ecclestone made claims this week that the Brazilian Grand Prix could be set for the axe by saying: "It could be that the grand prix in Brazil this year is the last."
But ejournalist Victor Martins told UOL's Grande Premio programme that the Ecclestone's threat is "puerile and childish".
"At the end of the day, Brazil has a contract until 2020 at least," he said.
Martins' colleague Gabriel Curty added: "F1 always complains about breaches of contract, so it does not seem logical that now he (Ecclestone) wants to break such a long agreement."
Other iconic races such as the British Grand Prix and Italian Grand Prix have also previously been threatened with the chop only for them to remain on the calendar.
