FIA enforce track limits at Turn 11

The FIA has notified drivers that their qualifying lap times will be deleted if they abuse track limits at Turn 11 and run over the white lines. Track limits were also used on the exit of the penultimate corner last weekend in Austin, which proved effective during qualifying.

"If a driver crosses the kerb on the exit of Turn 11 during qualifying and, as a result, no part of the car remains in contact with the red and white section of the kerb, the laptime of the driver concerned will be deleted by the stewards," read notes sent by race director Charlie Whiting.

These track limits will also be in place come Sunday's race, which gets underway at 13:10 local time. Should a driver cross the white line three times during the Grand Prix, he will receive the black and white flag

"During the race a black and white flag will be shown to any driver who clears the red and white section of the kerb three times," Whiting added. "Any further occurrence will then be reported to the stewards. Each time any car clears the red and white section teams will be informed via the official messaging system."

Make the kerbs like real ones, the sort that wreck your wheel in real life, that would stop them. Another naff artificial track.

How novel, enforcing the rules, but only after after three infractions , then only tattling to the stewards. Nice to see Charley clamping down.
