FIA takes steps to make sure the Chinese Grand Prix goes ahead

With Friday's practice sessions being a wash-out at the Chinese Grand Prix, governing body the FIA have put measures in place to ensure that the rest of the weekend goes ahead as planned.

The teams were limited to approximately fifteen minutes of running on Friday as the medical helicopter was unable to land at a nearby hospital due to low clouds and poor visibility.

With the option of a police escort for an ambulance to the hospital not being an option on Friday, the FIA understandably took the decision to red-flag FP1 and cancel FP2 altogether.

During Free Practice 3 on Saturday, Sky Sports were reported that the FIA have now arranged for a potential police escort to the hospital for an ambulance should the need arise over the remainder of the weekend.

With the clouds expected to be at higher altitude on Sunday a repeat is not expected but at least a contingency is now in place.
