The German Grand Prix ha struggled for crowds and funding in recent years, and despite pleas to Bernie Ecclestone, the F1 supremo has refused to offer a helping had to the race.
"We cannot subsidise the race in Germany if we do not do the same with the other races in Europe," said Ecclestone.
The change will reportedly be ratified by the next World Motor Sport Council meeting in Vienna on November 30.
It is a stark contrast to a decade ago when two races in Germany took place - The German Grand Prix at Hockenheim and the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.
Both venues are supposed to alternate hosting the German Grand Prix nowadays, but the Nurburgring has withdrawn from recent events due to financial constraints.
The Nurburgring was originally set to host he 2017 German Grand Prix, until Hockenheim unsuccessfully stepped in.
