He was flown to a hospital in Grenoble at 11.53am and underwent various tests to examine his condition and has been listed as 'critical'. According to one source, Schumacher's is reported to be in a coma with a cerebral haemorrhage, though this has not officially been confirmed. Furthermore, it has been known that Gérard Saillant, the neurologist that aided him to his recovery in 1999 was flown in early this evening.
A Press Conference was expected to be held at 9pm, however this was later postponed. A spokesperson did release this statement earlier today "He was taken to hospital and is receiving professional medical attention. We ask for understanding that we cannot give out continuous information about his health.". Adding to the speculation that all is not well in the World of Schumacher is that Michael's brother and ex-F1 driver, Ralf's 'Official Website' now loads a black screen as opposed to the main page.
Various drivers have been tweeting and offering their support and well-wishes for Schumacher. His wife Corinna and two children, one of which was understood to be with Michael at the time of the incident are by his bedside.
UPDATE - 23.00 GMT:
It is understood by F1Today.net that the resulting pressure between Schumacher's brain and skull roof has resulted in the German being put in a coma. It is not yet known how this may affect the functions of his brain, though the initial signs are not appearing promising. The next few hours could prove crucial to the final outcome in Schumacher's condition.
Jorge Ansorge (CEO - Professional Assocation of German Surgeons) was recorded as stating this in an interview "The 44 year-old was flown with a Helicopter to the hospital of Grenoble. The 'head trauma' is a result of trauma to the skull and the coma, the result probably occurred between the skull roof and brain haemorrhage. Because of the resulting increase in pressure brain functions provide their service and the patient loses consciousness.
"For the upcoming development of Schumacher's condition, the Doctors at Grenoble stating Schumacher's condition is critical."
It is also now known that Ross Brawn has arrived at the hospital in Grenoble.
