FIA to reform driver penalty system - report

The report said the FIA has acknowledged that, for example, minor infractions on the track could often be penalised more appropriately.
One example is a driver infraction leading to a drive-through penalty, where perhaps a less-harsh five-second laptime delay might be a better option for the stewards to impose. (GMM)
