Esteban Ocon is hoping to test with Force India and Williams next season in conjunction with his role with Mercedes. The Frenchman will not be racing in F1 next year, but will instead be working closely with Mercedes, driving its simulator and drive its car at tests.
Ocon is expected to be replaced by Lance Stroll at Force India for the 2019 season. Although official confirmation has not yet been announced, Stroll tested for the pink panthers at the post-season Pirelli test this week at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Ocon had agreed on verbal deals during the mid-season with both Renault and McLaren, before they opted to go for Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris respectively. Although he will be out of a race seat, Ocon expects to remain very busy: "Of course it's always better to race than to not race," he told France's Auto Hebdo. "But I will have a lot of work anyway
"It seems I will have even more to do than before," Ocon continued. "I will go to all of the grands prix and work on the simulator, and we will try to give me as much work as possible on the track.
"Perhaps I will take part in tests with Force India and Williams as well. Mercedes continues to support me and believe in my grand prix career, and I hope everything will work out," the Frenchman concluded.
