Mick Schumacher is set to compete a second year in the European Formula 3 Championship. The German made his debut in the series in 2017, finishing twelfth in the standings. The 18-year-old picked up one podium during the season.

Now, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that a 2018 contract with the same outfit will be agreed "in the next few days". One of Michael Schumacher's former engineers at Ferrari, Luca Baldisserri, is happy to be working with Mick.

"It was very emotional to work with Michael's son, and in many ways he reminds me of his father," he said. "A couple of times, I've even called him Michael on the radio."

Meanwhile, as the four year anniversary of his skiing crash passes, Michael's manager Sabine Kehm has explained why she is so coy about the seven-time world champion's health today: "Before the accident, he told me 'Don't call me to plan things, I would like to disappear. It was his secret wish. That's why I do not say anything now," she told L'Equipe.

    Names don't mean talent.

  • Again confirmation that he hasn't spoken a word since the accident.

  • "I would like to disappear." Sounds like it could al be made up... I suppose that's not the truth. Yet not very smart to say such a thing, Mrs Kehm!

  • I still don't get the extreme lengths to which they have gone to conceal Michael's condition. It's their prerogative, but to me it borders on the absurd. The only thing revealing the conditions would change it that people would be praying for something more specific and have more realistic expectations. But again, they are in their right to do as they wish.

I think it's pretty poor to keep his health secret - he is an enormously public figure and the people have the right to know - to not know only causes us all to think the worst - I sincerely hope he is in a better state than this. C'mon Ms Kehm - this lack of talk must also be affecting his son's driving - people walking around like they are on egg shells, it cannot be good for him.
